CAST Familia,
Welcome to a brand new year!
At CAST, we see the new school year as a time of endless possibility, an opportunity to engage young people in a journey of self-discovery and purpose.
COVID changed us all. And yet, as we move further away from that period, we see new openings and new possibilities.
Last year, we relaunched our popular speakers series with Chef Johnny Hernandez, UTSA’s Lisa Campos, and Peter Holt of HOLT CAT. We will continue to connect our students to leaders who have done well and do good in our community.
Our top priorities this year will be:
- Supporting our educators as we lift up the teaching profession.
- Embedding pre-apprenticeships into our schools in partnership with Ready to Work SA.
- Strengthening our Alumni Network with a focus on career connections.
We’re still growing! CAST Lead will have its first graduating class this year, and our newest school, CAST Teach, moves into its building and adds 10th grade.
Finally, we launch the new year with a conversation with 9th graders about identity, mental health, and claiming your story. For 5 years, students from the Pre-K-12 Advanced Learning and CAST Tech have anchored a partnership with local author Lorenzo Gomez III to transform his book into a play, and for the second year, they’ll perform for all our schools at the historic Empire Theatre downtown. You can find more information or purchase tickets for the community or VIP performance here.
This year, together, let’s return to our CAST North Star and imagine how we can transform teaching and learning in San Antonio!
