CAST Schools are partnership schools, co-created by industry, civic leaders, and other external partners, who participate in decisions about curriculum, budget and school governance. In addition to their critical role in the school design, our partners provide mentorship, real-world work experiences, internships, and job opportunities, shaping the career readiness of students and helping them seamlessly transition into college or the workforce while nurturing a homegrown and committed source of talent.
San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) has been located in the heart of the city for more than 100 years and is Bexar County’s third-largest school district. Under the leadership of Superintendent Pedro Martinez, SAISD serves more than 50,000 students among more than 90 campuses.
CAST Tech is open to students across Bexar County and is San Antonio’s first high-tech high school. An in-district charter of the San Antonio Independent School District, CAST Tech is a first-of-its-kind model where college coursework is embedded in the program and students can graduate with up to two years of college credit, industry-recognized certifications and portfolios that feature rigorous, multi-disciplinary projects and other examples of their work. CAST Tech students will prepare for careers in coding, cyber security, gaming, web design, user experience entrepreneurship, business, and more.
CAST Tech students have participated in summer opportunities at both SAC and UTSA, and those relationships continue to grow.
At CAST Tech, our core higher education partners are the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and San Antonio College. UTSA is embedding its next generation of teachers along CAST Tech master teachers, offering education methods classes within the CAST Tech building and undertaking research of CAST Tech’s unique approach. CAST Tech students also benefit from the strong relationship with higher education faculty in computer science, business, and engineering.
CAST Tech has developed a three-way partnership with San Antonio College to give CAST Tech students access to college-level dual credit courses at both campuses and to ensure maximum transferability of those higher-level courses.
Let us know how you’re interested in getting involved with CAST Tech. We will reach out to you and customize your participation based on your schedule and preferences.
