CAST’s Plans to Embed Pre-Apprenticeships in All 6 Schools

Although it is still a work-in-progress (one which makes so much sense for the premier high schools partnered with local industry), we are working closely with the City of San Antonio to embed pre-apprenticeships in all of our schools. CAST Schools was founded with the recognition that many San Antonio high school graduates who are fully prepared for high school do not attend college, and we wanted to ensure they had a secure footing in a high-wage field with the potential for advancement.

Last year, CAST worked to expose our students to apprenticeships, with CAST STEM sending the highest number of graduates to Texas FAME programs. Just before the holidays, CAST announced a partnership with apprenticeship partner Coherent Cyber, funded by the 80\20 Foundation, and we are exploring ways to connect all of our students to jobs connected to training and the promise of future wage increases.
