Welcome to Summer!

Date

Summer is a bit slower in the world of schools, except CAST is hosting a wide range of summer programs across our schools.  Stay tuned here for photos and stories from each school as they engage in hands-on experiences to expose more young people to what it feels like to be a CAST student.

Summer is also a time when educators plan, reboot, and catch their breath, and it is often a time of transition.

We are excited to announce a series of promotions and new leadership teams at several of our campuses:

  • Dr. Mari Alarcón will move to CAST Med & Imagine as Principal of those two co-located campuses. Born and raised in San Antonio’s southside, Dr. Mari is excited for the opportunity to reinvent schooling in her community and to co-create a new middle school experience. Most recently, she served as Associate Principal at the Advanced Learning Academy (ALA-Tech).
  • Stephanie Cash, a founding member of the ALA faculty and current Associate Principal, will assume the ALA-Tech Principalship. Ms. Cash is a graduate of the Trinity Leadership program and has played a leading role at ALA in a variety of positions, most recently as Associate Principal.
  • Kathy Bieser, founding principal of ALA, will be working jointly with the CAST network and the San Antonio ISD to support new school design.

These moves open up new opportunities for new leaders, and we are grateful that we have been pursuing a strategy of growing internal leaders. We’re very proud of the teams we will be assembling around these ascending leaders, and we can’t wait for you to meet all of our CAST teams when we return back to school in August!
