The idea behind CAST was to expose more students, across our city, to high-wage, fast-growth jobs. We worked with business leaders and school superintendents to identify locations near clusters of industry and in communities where such programs did not exist.
We built CAST Tech near the downtown Tech district, where they could walk to employer partners like USAA and Frost Bank. Engineering-focused CAST STEM was near the Toyota manufacturing plant and Port San Antonio. CAST Med was the first medically-focused high school on San Antonio’s Southside, next door to UIW’s medical campus. Although UT Health was not close, it recognized the need and was eager to partner. CAST Lead is connected to a web of small businesses and entrepreneurs in the retail, hospitality and e-commerce sectors. Also in our network, downtown, is the Advanced Learning Academy, a pre-K through 12 Academy where students design their own career focus. CAST Teach will open in Northside ISD in partnership with UTSA to build the next generation of educators.
Coding, cyber security, gaming, entrepreneurship, and business are just some of the focuses at CAST Tech. Located downtown in renovated buildings on the Fox Tech campus, students are immersed in San Antonio's tech district with a direct link to industry partners that included H-E-B, Rackspace, Geekdom, and USAA.
Explore careers in engineering, advanced manufacturing, energy and power, and global logistics at CAST STEM. In partnership with Southwest ISD and Alamo Colleges-Palo Alto College, students work alongside industry partners such as CPS Energy, Toyota, Zachry and HOLT CAT.
CAST Lead is a career-themed high school that will prepare students for leadership positions in the growing retail, hospitality and tourism, and ecommerce industries. These industries represent some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic in our city, offering students an opportunity to align their passion with industry and higher education leaders committed to their success.
CAST Med opened in Fall 2019 and focuses on medicine and biomedical research to add to the pipeline of much-needed doctors and researchers in the San Antonio area. CAST Med is a partnership with San Antonio ISD and located at Brooks on San Antonio's South Side.
CAST Teach will be an innovative high school of choice for future educators, in partnership with Northside ISD, UTSA College of Education and Human Development and CAST Schools. The school presents a unique opportunity to develop and empower its students, so that they in turn, as future educators, have a bigger impact on generations to come.
ALA is built around four commitments in service of its bold vision for a transformative education model: Deep Learning, Individuality, Flexible Design, Connection.
