Meet Kahlil Davis, a Cast Tech Graduate-Turned-Microsoft Design Intern

When you’re starting high school, it can be challenging or even overwhelming to know what you want to do after you graduate. However, Kahlil Davis knew he was a creative person, and CAST Tech helped show him the endless possibilities that came with that creativity. Kahlil was a member of CAST Tech’s inaugural class in 2017 and found himself slowly coming out of his shell. Through CAST Tech’s UX program, Kahlil discovered his love for design, and knew that this was something he wanted to pursue professionally after he graduated. Kahlil would learn about the new concepts at school, and then research them further during his free time after class.

During his time at CAST Tech, Kahlil landed his first job with CAST’s Partnership Office, where he would give tours of CAST Tech to incoming students and families. Kahlil was able to accumulate three years of industry experience thanks to CAST Tech, and after he graduated, Kahlil used his connections at CAST to secure an internship with the BEE Project, one of CAST’s partner organizations. While with the BEE Project, Kahlil was able to develop a marketing campaign for SAISD that is still used today.

Kahlil was accepted into the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Design and a minor in Professional Sales. Kahlil also started a position with the university as a Design Student Ambassador where, like his position with CAST, he can give tours to incoming students and families. Kahlil’s hard work and dedication eventually paid off as he recently discovered that he was offered a summer internship position with Microsoft as a Design Intern. For Kahlil, this is a dream come true. Kahlil was able to take his creativity and apply it in a business environment where he will continue to flourish, and he thanks CAST for opening these doors for him:

CAST Tech is the place you need to be because you’ll never expect what you’ll get out of it…Your voice is heard – they really take in student voice and student experience.
