Youth Voice High School Intern

MISSION/VISION: CAST Schools Network reinvents schooling in a way that maximizes opportunities for students while preparing them to be college, career, and life ready.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: The Youth Voice high school intern will:

  • Provide feedback on list of successful expressions of Youth Voice practices created by UP Partnership;
  • Provide feedback on how Youth Voice can be measured;
  • Tell stories of successful examples of Youth Voice from this initial list through photography, blog posts, videos, and more;
  • Research and develop a database or asset map of high-quality practices at CAST and across San Antonio that support youth voice, agency and leadership, building upon the initial list developed by UP Partnership.
  • Assist the CAST Youth Experience Coordinator with several events, activities, and “cross-CAST” experiences
  • Plan a day where youth come together to;
  • Definitions of youth voice in action
  • Possible ways to capture youth voice at schools and in the community.

The Youth Voice intern may also participate in additional information gatherings around the topic of Youth Voice, including interviews, focus groups, and surveys. The Youth Voice intern will have an opportunity to present this body of work to key stakeholders.

The intern may also assist with related activities, such as and planning for 2024-2025 signature CAST events such as Speak Up Speak Out and the Youth Rally. The intern will have an opportunity to attend planning meetings and provide a student perspective on enhancing CAST Schools Network events.

The intern will also gain experience working in Microsoft Office and the Google Suite, as we will build the database using Google tools.

All CAST interns will also have an opportunity to participate in overview trainings to include: data analysis, marketing and communications, and project management. This position will be principally in the CAST office at 200 E. Basse Rd., Ste. 201.

Start date: June 18, 2024
End date: Aug 8, 2024
Excluding: July 1 – 5, 2024
Total number of weeks: 7
Monday-Friday; 10-20 hours per week (schedule negotiable within regular business hours)

COMPENSATION/PAY: Intern will be paid $15/hour.
