Celebrate the FIRST Class of CAST Med High School Graduates

65 Students Ready for College and Careers

The 65 high school seniors who comprise the first graduating class from CAST Med High School in San Antonio ISD will celebrate an evening of events with family and friends. These 65 seniors were awarded nearly $4 million in scholarships and many will go on to pursue college degrees and careers in the medical field. A few interesting facts about this impressive class of students:

  • 65 students

  • 89% Hispanic/Latino – 5% White – 6% Other

  • 72% Female – 28% Male

  • 68% Economically Disadvantaged

  • 91% earned college credit

  • $3,946,084 earned in scholarships

  • 100% applied and were accepted to college

CAST Med High School opened on the Brooks campus in August 2019 and is one of five tuition-free high schools established by the CAST Network. CAST Med was created in partnership with San Antonio Independent School District to provide students a strong foundation in math and science so that they can pursue careers as medical professionals, public health professionals, or in biomedical research. CAST Med is the only school in San Antonio to offer a public health pathway, and the only dual language medically focused school on San Antonio’s south side.
