On October 6th, CAST’s Student Advisory met at St. Stephen’s CARE Center for a Day of Service.
St. Stephen’s CARE Center is a client-choice food pantry. Clients can shop for food just like a grocery store, but they checkout for free, providing dignity to all. The food pantry provides immediate food assistance including canned goods, dry goods, dairy products, meat, bread and pastries, and even fresh, organic produce from their own St. Phocas Garden. Diapers are also available for clients. In addition to food and clothing, they also distribute box fans for Project Cool, a program that provides free box fans to seniors in an effort to provide heat relief and prevent heat-related illness during the hot summer months.
The Student Advisory assisted St. Stephen’s by:
- Sorting through donations
- Restocking the food shelves
- Assisting with client choice shopping
- Helping make the campus look beautiful
