Director of Development (Fundraising)

About CAST: 

The Centers for Applied Science and Technology is a 501(c)3 network of public-partnership schools working with San Antonio area independent school districts. The CAST mission is to reinvent schooling to maximize options for students, while preparing them for the jobs of the future. CAST has 6 schools in four school districts; the nonprofit is governed by a board representing industry and civic leaders. The Development Director is a new position and will join the nonprofit executive team, made up of the Executive Director, the Program Director and the Marketing and Communications Director.

 

 Position Summary  

The Director of Development is a key leadership role responsible for spearheading the organization’s fundraising efforts to support our mission. This strategic position involves planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. The Director of Development will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff to develop fundraising goals that align with short the long-term needs of the organization.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
  • Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
  • Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop an effective donor communication and marketing strategy, including donor recognition and targeted appeals.
  • Foster strong relationships with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and Executive Team to develop fundraising strategies, goals and milestones.
  • Prepare letters, grant proposals, and other reports or materials needed for effective cultivation and solicitation of proposals.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of proven fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting annual fund goals, development management, grant writing, sponsorships and special events.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and CRM databases.
  • A deep commitment to the mission and values of CAST Schools
  • A valid TX Driver’s License with the ability to travel in the service area on a regular basis.
