Katie has been a part of the H-E-B family for 22 years. She has held many positions to include Deli/Food Service Manager, Retail Store Leader, and Corporate Recruiter. She currently works on the Public Affairs team as a Program Manager working on Education & Workforce Initiatives.
Katie most recently built our High School and Two-Year Technical Internship Programs for H-E-B. Working with ISD’s across Bexar County and Alamo Community College we have offered more than 500 students experiential learning opportunities to include summer internships and job shadow experiences over the last five years. She is also on the board of many organizations to include TXFAME which is a pipeline program for Multi-skilled technicians in our advanced manufacturing world and the teacher externship initiative with ASWC, and the FCCLA State organization.
Katie serves on the NEISD, NISD, SAISD, ECISD, SWISD, Judson ISD, New Braunfels ISD, and SCUCISD CTE Advisory Boards working to improve career and technical programs in these districts.
Katie also played a vital role in building the San Antonio Works Initiative. Over the last five years she has visited and built strong relationships with educators, CTE leaders, and ISD leaders across Bexar County and beyond.
IN 2018 Katie started a Clothes Closet that is focused on making sure high school students have professional wear as they begin their first job, internship, etc. Any students can shop the closet for free and take whatever they need.
Katie has two children that are the center of her world. A 19-year-old son, Gage, and an 18-year-old daughter Sage. Both are currently in college pursuing their educational goals. They are constantly keeping her centered and reminding her of what is really the most important part of her life…..family.
The Centers for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) Network is a tax-exempt organization as described in Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. CAST Schools are partnership schools with a focus on STEM careers, project based learning and work-based learning. Key partners include public school districts, higher education institutions, and local employers from target industries.
