CAST Schools is excited to announce a first-of-a-kind collaboration between local author and tech leader Lorenzo Gomez III and its high school students. For four years, sharing Gomez’s book Tafolla Toro, and accompanying reflective activities has become a signature event focused on mental health and relationships for entering CAST 9th graders.
Now CAST students have worked alongside the author to bring to life a new play entitled Three Years of Fear. The play addresses and offers strategies to navigate fear and anxiety through autobiographical stories of growing up on San Antonio’s Westside.
Over the summer student writers and interns participated in workshops with the author where they perfected the play and began the process for its Texas UIL Approval and publication. Students collaborated with local artist Martha Martinez-Flores to design the set, and student actors are rehearsing as they ready to bring you this exciting premiere on the big stage.
