Meet CAST’s Newest Board Member: Leslie Cantu

Date

On Thursday, CAST Schools’ Board of Trustees voted unanimously to add Leslie Cantu from Toyotetsu TX as their newest member. Leslie is the Vice President of Administration at the Toyotetsu operation in San Antonio, Texas. To Leslie, this is the start of a flourishing partnership with CAST Schools:

Toyotetsu is proud to support CAST students through a variety of career-connect learning opportunities. We are most excited about our newest partnership which is our pre-apprenticeship program with CAST STEM. This program is a great way for students to be immersed in a work environment that directly correlates to their selected pathway.

In her role she has oversight responsibility for Human Resources; Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security; and Accounting and Purchasing. Most recently in her career she has gained over 18 years combined experience with tier 1 automotive manufacturing suppliers in both the production and administration arenas.

Leslie is also active in the community; passionate about supporting workforce development initiatives; and has played a role on several boards and chambers of commerce over the years. Currently she is the President for the TX FAME Alamo Chapter, Chair for Workforce Solutions Alamo board of directors, Texas Workforce Commission Adult Education and Literacy advisory committee member, and a Gubernatorial Appointee by the Governor for the Texas SB 2315 Task Force.

Leslie is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. As the newest member of CAST’s Board of Trustees, she is excited to get started and help revolutionize education in San Antonio.

It is an honor to be on the CAST board and to be able to work with such an amazing team of educators and leaders who are committed to maximizing opportunities for students while preparing them for college and careers. I am most excited about being about to work with innovative leaders to build on the amazing work that has been done so far and find new ways to take it to the next level. With the level of passion and commitment the team has, I know the sky is the limit for our youth.
