Position Summary
CAST Tech High School is the flagship high school of the CAST Schools network, and the first high-tech high school in the city of San Antonio. An innovative high school of choice exposing young people to colleges and careers, with a focus on cybersecurity, User Experience (UX) and entrepreneurship, operated in partnership with CAST Schools, a nonprofit network, and San Antonio ISD. CAST Tech is part of the six-school CAST Schools network designed as an economic mobility strategy, one of three 1882 partnership schools with CAST within SAISD. CAST Schools are co-created with industry and other stakeholders, and CAST Principals are expected to embrace a shared vision of collaborative leadership that listens to the voices of industry as well as students and teachers in shaping the student experience. Principals meet regularly with their industry advisory board and look for consistent opportunities to engage both students and staff in meaningful feedback to engage in a process of continuous learning, adaptation, and improvement. CAST Schools focus on four pillars of authentic learning, relationships, equity and student voice and agency. The network believes that all students come with gifts and our job is to unlock them. There are no academic criteria for admission, and all students are exposed to college coursework, hands-on opportunities, including meaningful work-based experiences, and encouraged to spend their four years of high school developing a clear sense of purpose and direction for what they will do post high school. CAST Tech is located downtown in the city’s Tech District and works closely with leading tech and business partners to create internships and experiential opportunities for students. The campus pioneered an early college academy partnership with UTSA and works closely with several other colleges and universities. CAST School leaders participate in a small network designed to act as innovative laboratories for our partner school districts, and to test new ways of teaching and learning to share with the broader San Antonio region, to foster greater opportunity for all San Antonio youth.
