Gabriella, a sophomore at CAST Med High School, shares a virtual tour of her school. CAST Med is located at Brooks on San Antonio’s South Side right across from The Greenline. CAST Med is led by Dr. Eddie Muzquiz Rodriguez and the school prepares students for futures in medicine, biomedical research and public health. CAST Med Is a Choice School in the San Antonio Independent School District.
With classes such as Project Lead the Way and their small class size, students at CAST Med High School are able to customize their education. This way, every student is continuously challenged to creatively find their purpose, advance their knowledge and reach their goals.
All CAST Med students enroll in AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, their freshman year, a course that teaches students the skills necessary to prepare and succeed in college.
The Anatomage is a digital cadaver that allows students at CAST STEM High School to explore the human body system in detail. CAST Med is the only high school in San Antonio to have this tool.
CAST Med High School partners with industry leaders in biomedical research, medicine and public health to provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through mentorships, job-shadowing opportunities and internships. Partners include IDRA (Intercultural Development Research Association), The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), UT Health San Antonio, Bexar County Medical Society, University of Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine, The Save Clinic, H-E-B and more.
Everyone here, from the students to the staff is dedicated to helping students achieve their goals.
